Thiruvananthapuram: The government has appointed a seven-member jury headed by national award-winning filmmaker Saeed Akhtar Mirza to decide the state film awards for 2021. No less than 142 films have been submitted for screening and the jury will start screening from of April 28.
The committee also includes director and film critic K Gopinathan, filmmaker Sunder Das, Hindi filmmaker and screenwriter Suresh Triveni, singer Bombay Jayashree, director and cinematographer Fousia Fathima and sound designer Hareendranath Dwarak Warrier.
Also this year, there will be two sub-committee panels that will divide and screen the entry films and shortlist them for judging before the final jury.
The first sub-committee headed by K Gopinathan will have former Doordarshan deputy director Baiju Chandran, writer Sushmesh Chandroth and sound designer Jissy Michael as members. The second sub-committee, led by Sunder Das, will include VR writer Sudheesh, filmmaker Sangeetha Padmanabhan and cinematographer Venugopal among its members.
For the Film Literary Works Awards, the jury will be headed by National Laureate and Film Critic VK Joseph, with Writer and Journalist Manila C Mohan, Film Critic and Screenwriter Aju K Narayanan as members.
The Secretary of Kerala State Chalachitra Academy, C Ajoy will be the member secretary of all committees.
